Why Paint Correct the Paint Prior to Ceramic Coating?

Let’s suppose you purchase one of the ceramic coating packages here at B’s Custom Detail LLC, and you are ready to cruise around town with the glossiest vehicle around. But as you research our offerings, you discover that all of our ceramic coating packages also include a Silver Paint Correction Package prior to the application of any of our ceramic coatings. This may leave you wondering, why?


Even if you take great care of your ride, all vehicles can benefit from paint correction services. Our paint correction team often performs these packages on brand new vehicles, because no vehicle is completely free of swirl marks, hairline scratches, paint chips, or other surface defects. That means, even if you’ve meticulously maintained your ride since owning it, even microscopic abrasions have likely had its way with your paintwork.

  • Is a ceramic coating a solid or a liquid when applied?

    A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied directly to the surface of your vehicle by hand. This makes the process quite tactile, and why the results here at B’s Custom Detailing LLC are so sought after. Hand application reduces the chance that this liquid consistency will be applied sloppily.

  • Why do I need to maintain my ceramic coating?

    We get this question quite a bit actually - if a ceramic coating allows my vehicle to stay clean longer, why do I need to maintain it, especially to keep it’s warranty valid? 


    The proper maintenance for a ceramic coating includes regular exterior detailing that is done correctly or by a professional team like B’s Custom Detailing LLC.  It’s important to remember that ceramic coating is largely hydrophobic, but it will still need to be washed. Keeping your vehicle clean, will help to prevent damage to your ceramic coating while simultaneously allowing you to inspect your coating regularly.  

  • What could damage my ceramic coating?

    For the most part, a ceramic coating does not protect against deep scratches, impact damage, or anything that a paint protection film (PPF) - also known as a clear bra - resists. 


    Something to also remember is that even though ceramic coatings do create a hydrophobic surface gloss that allows all liquids and other contaminants to bead up and run off much easier than your traditional surface coat, they can still be damaged by improper washing techniques.

  • How long does the traditional ceramic coating last?

    Specific to our ceramic coating packages here at B’s Custom Detailing LLC, they last from one to five years. The lifespan is largely contingent on the type of formula used and how many applications of the coating take place upon installation, along with your maintenance routine.
